Reichel with DNF in Arizona

Due to an injury Horst Reichel did not finish Ironman Arizona. "A hardening of the right harmstring has developed into a sharp pain and so I dropped out of the race," the POWER HORSE athlete reported after the race.

Previously, he had prepared in a three-week training camp in Tucson for the Ironman Arizona. "The season was long," Reichel says a few hours after the race and adds: "Maybe too long." At first it was all right for the Ironman 70.3 Italy champion and he climbed out of the water from the Tempe Town Lake on the seventh place. He over took the lead on the bike and even broke away with three other athletes from the major professional field . After 135 miles on the bike Reichel then did the only sensible decision and quit the race: "For me it is now time to recover and make plans for the new season.”
