Potrebitsch with second place at Challenge Almere

Rain, wind and temperatures around 15 degrees made the Challenge Amsterdam-Almere a real endurance test for all athletes. George Potrebitsch played these conditions in the cards, and so he secured with solid performances in all disciplines the second place. On Tuesday Potrebitsch travels to Mallorca to meet with the entire POWER HORSE Triathlon Team to train for his next goal: the Challenge Barcelona on October, 6th.

"My toughest day"
In fourth position and after just under 50 minutes Georg Potrebitsch finishes the 3.8 kilometer track to kick off the Challenge Amsterdam-Almere. He quickly moved up a place on the bike forward. Although his solo comeback on the Belgian Bart Colpaert should not be successful, Potrebitsch broke away from the other pro athletes . Especially the strong winds on the 180 kilometers by bike should be the yardstick, after 4:49 hours the POWER HORSE athlete was allowed to park his bike in the transition area and go on the final marathon. In the first two of four rounds "Little George", as Potrebitsch named in the triathlon scene, he had a high tempo. Only Colpaert, who finished the race as the winner, was still faster on this day. In a time of 8:43:19 hours Potrebitsch reached the finish line and was looking forward to the second place at the Challenge Amsterdam-Almere. That the race has taken really everything, was showed by his short answer to the question of how he experienced the event: "That was one of my hardest working days I ever had. Thanks a lot to my team for their motivation and support!"

Potrebitsch moves on
After two quiet days with his family in Gladbeck Georg Potrebitsch again has to pack his bags. The next three weeks he will spend in the training camp in Mallorca. At Viva Blue Hotel in Alcudia he joins his teammates Timo Bracht, Jan Raphael and Horst Reichel, preparing intensely for the Ironman Hawaii. For Potrebitsch the goal this year is, not in Kailua- Kona but Barcelona. On October 6th he will compete at the Challenge Barcelona over the long distance.
