70.3 Luxembourg with Horst Reichel

On Sunday (September 8) will be the first edition of Ironman 70.3 Luxembourg. Horst Reichel from the POWER HORSE triathlon team will be there to fight for a place on the podium. Just one day later Reichel travels to Mallorca in order to specifically training with his teammates for the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii.

1.9 km swimming in the Mosel, 90 kilometers by bike on a mostly flat course and a half-marathon over four rounds through Remich (LUX): that is the first Ironman 70.3 event in Luxembourg. Horst Reichel will do the race as a last test under competitive condition, to see what he has still to do for 12th October, when he will be at the start line of Ironman Hawaii.

Good training + good rest = good competition?

Reichel has spent the last six weeks with extensive training and makes now a relaxing impression: "I feel that I am fit. After all the training the last few weeks I have recovered very well and am looking forward to the race on Sunday." There he will meet Luxembourg's Dirk Bockel, who won the Challenge Roth in a fabulous time of 7:52 hours in July. "Dirk is hard to beat," admits Horst Reichel. "But it's not impossible!" A place on the podium is the target of the POWER HORSE athlete. "Dirk fast in the water and on the bike," says Reichel, but he sees his chance during the running: "Only on the run Dirk is always a little slower than the other top athletes."
